The Dinner Table is Our Sacred Space
The Sacred Food/Life Cycle
I farm the soil that yields my food; I share creation… Kings can do no more” – Ancient Chinese Proverb
When we change the way we grow our food, we change our food, we change our society, we change our values.” Wendell Berry
The problem is that we have changed the way our food is produced. Large scale industrial, toxic, chemical dependent, genetic engineered, agriculture has devastated our environment, our families and our social fabric.
The Average US meal travels 1500 miles to get to your plate. The average American is eating food without Soul—produced in mass-volume, heedless of nutritional value, spirit, or care for the next generations.
99% of the eggs in the U.S. are produced in factory farms,
95% of the poultry in the U.S. is produced in factory farms,
76 % of the pork in the U.S. comes from four companies: Tyson, Swift, Cargill and Smithfield,
85% of the beef in the U.S. comes from four companies: Tyson, Cargill, Swift and National,
40% of our milk in the U.S. is controlled by Dean Foods.
As you can see this is being done a very large scale, but it can be undone.
Then God said, “Let the earth bring forth grass, the herb that yields seed and the fruit tree that yields fruit according to its kind, whose seed is in itself”.
92% of our food is produced/raised 100 feet from our Family Table without the use of any
toxic fertilizers, herbicides, pesticides, antibiotics, or genetic engineering.
The Sacred food process on our Farm:
From Spirit to Soil to Seed to Table, involves:
Love, Light, Space, Gentleness, Respect, Joy, Peace and GRATEFULLNESS

From the Plain People:
“We realize that not everyone is cut out to be one of the Plain People. Many have not the opportunity. But here is the challenge: If you admire our faith- strengthen yours. If you admire our sense of commitment – deepen yours. If you admire our community spirit – build one. If you admire the simple life – cut back. If you admire quality merchandise or land stewardship – then make quality. If you admire deep character and enduring values – live them.”
“…..we aren’t the way we are because of the way we live, we live as we do because of what we are.”
Uncle Amos
